Professional Portrait

Hi! My name is Mikayla Martin and I’m majoring in public relations with a minor in nonprofit at the University of Oklahoma. My plan is move to a bigger city and work in nonprofit public relations because it combines my love for helping others, social media marketing and event planning. I’m from Norman, Oklahoma and my entire family graduated from OU, so I had to continue the legacy.

I believe that planning and organization are great tools to have in life. One could say that my agenda is my saving grace. A thoroughly planned schedule decreases my stress levels and sets me up for a great week. I’m a determined individual, so I’m easily motivated and guided by my own goals and expectations. My family also motivates me because I always want to make them proud. Currently, I’m a marketing associate at an apartment complex, but I hope to work for a nonprofit organization this summer.

Design has always been an interest in my life whether its drawing or through graphics. Design allows the freedom to express yourself and be creative. I think the interest sparked in my high school media classes where I learned to work with Final Cut and Adobe. I still have quite a bit to learn, but I cannot wait for lessons this semester and more experience.
