DREAM CRAZIER NIKE AD
Description:
The ad has classical music throughout, a variety of different races being portrayed, and aspiring athletes are shown. Also, well known athletes in prominent moments in their career are show hints why the narrator is Serena Williams.
Analysis:
The word “crazy” is repeated multiple times, every time she says a powerful statement the music becomes more intense, and the ad skips through different moments in history. Also, every athlete shown is wearing nike attire.
Interpretation:
The goal of the ad and the reason for the many patterns is women can be passionate about something without being portrayed as crazy. Women can show emotion and still be sane whether they are an athlete or an ordinary person. They want to inspire people to not be ashamed of screaming, yelling, or getting angry when doing something they love.
Evaluation:
The strengths of the ad was it showed a timeline of events not just today in society. The ad goes back and forth between the past and the present where women were shamed for expressing emotion. Weaknesses of the ad were that majority of the scenes show the hardships and pain which is fine, but the ad would have been balanced if scenes of athletes happy and empowered were shown towards the end to prove their point of them not allowing sexism to hinder their future.
